1. What does MXPie mean?
MX came of course from WinMX, and the PIE part actually stands for Peer Integration Exchange, hence the MXPie Patch. We choose to carry this name forward to the website and our WinMX help rooms. MXPie Patch is often also referred to as the Piepatch, WinMX Patch, or WinMX Pie Patch.
2. Is MXPie a new name for WinMX?
The original WinMX software will always be known as WinMX. The MXPie Team chooses the name MXPie to represent ourselves and our efforts in supporting the continuation of software for WinMX, such as the MXPie Patch.
3. Where can I download MXPie patch?
MXPie Patch is available from the "Downloads" section of this website.
4. Can I download WinMX and MXPie patch bundled together?
Unfortunately we do not own the copyright to WinMX so therefore we do not have the legal right to modify it. We will provide links to mirror sites from which you can download the original WinMX software. Once the MXPie Patch is installed you will be able to connect to the WinMX network as before.
5. If I had WinMX before Frontcode shutdown, do I need to get a new copy of the WinMX program?
No, just download and install MXPie Patch and then WinMX will be able connect to the network again using all your old WinMX settings.
6. I currently use the WinMXGroup patch. Should I remove it?
As a user, you have a choice of which patch to use. Removing it would be entirely at your discretion. However, there are some advantages to using MXPie Patch. For instance, nothing in the patch is hidden from a user in any way. The hosts file can be opened with Notepad and the entries viewed by anyone. Furthermore, there are no hidden IP blocks and the WinMX software is not modified in any way. If you choose to use MXPie Patch, any conflicting patches will need to be uninstalled or deactivated. The MXPie Patch Automatic installer can do this for you.
7. I currently use the Pie Auto Updater. Should I remove it?
As a user, you have a choice of which patch to use. Removing it would be entirely at your discretion. However, there are some advantages to using MXPie Patch. MXPie Patch has more servers available for connecting to WinMX and is compatible with the full version of Peer Guardian 2. If you choose to install MXPie Patch, the Pie Auto Updater will need to be uninstalled first. Instructions for Pie Auto Updater Removal

9. Will MXPie Patch interfere with any of my other software? What about my bot, chat client, chat server, and various other third-party WinMX add-ons, will these work with MXPie Patch?
